Peculiarities found in the mission field – Madagascar

As I travel the world I am often exposed to things that are completely new to me. Some of these things are funny, others shocking and others totally ingenious… In this section of the site, I want to share with you some of these peculiarities!

Since I am currently in Madagascar, let me start with something very neat that they do here when cleaning their wood flooring…

With the “natural wave” that has swept over us in recent times, we have learned that coconut is a “super food” and how its oil is so good for cooking, for our skin, hair and so forth…

Well, I recently discovered it is also a great wood polisher! The Malagasy people use the coconut shell to clean their wood floors in a very ingenious way. They cut the coconut in half, step on it and start the workout! Oil is released and the husk of the outer shell polishes the wood, making it shiny and healthy!

Voilà!

A Madagascan peculiarity that is a 3-in-1 winner as it good for pocket, for the floors and for one’s fitness!
